2nd November Show and Tell

Although the theme for tonight’s Show and Tell, ably hosted by Sue, was ‘A Matching Pair’ most of the evening was taken up by a debrief of the Annual Competition. Fittingly, Alan E (as Experienced Category winner) went first. An already interesting insight into his process for creating his winning entry broadened out into how to make and use a ‘Wedgie Sledge’ in the segmented work which formed the majority of his and Geoff’s pieces.

Contributions followed from Alan P, 3rd place prizewinner Russell, Steve Moore and Ian Jones.

After the break Alex and Robin outlined problems they had encountered with their respective bowls. Sue then took up the theme with her interesting and unique jewellery holder – telling the group about the problems she had faced and her solutions.

And last but definitely not least Geoff started off his section by showing us his ‘useful biscuit tin’ of which he was rightly proud. Two more equally accomplished segmented pieces followed before he intrigued us with his bandsaw box. Alan E again took the floor to round off a fantastic evening by describing how he made his off – centre box and his box with hidden drawer. Thanks to everyone for their contributions.
