A night hosted by Keith Drew.
Keith showed a variety of the specialist turning tools he had made to produce some of the very intricate work he is capable of as well as some basic tools like captive ring cutting and beading, What the tools where made from. A discussion on how to heat treat & temper the steels (handing out some pamphlets on the subject)
Where to purchase the carbide tips and holding screws from, their manufacture, use and application of specialist turning tools.
Keith was assisted by Barry who used two of Keith’s tools to produce a captive ring on the lathe and a carbide tipped tool do some hollowing.
Keith is a hobby turner, but showed some really intricate woodturning wizardry he had produced using his homemade tools, Just an indication of what we can all aspire to and accomplish in our turning journey.
A really informative evening well attended by members and visitors, who hopefully will get some inspiration from the knowledge and experiance gained by Keith over many years.
